Justine Greening SEMBA2000 served as Secretary of State for Education from 2016 to 2018 and as Member of Parliament for Putney from 2005 to 2019. Following the May 2010 general election, she was appointed Economic Secretary to the Treasury within the coalition government and became Secretary of State for Transport in October 2011.
As Secretary of State for International Development, between December 2012 and July 2016, Greening led the UK's response to crises such as Ebola in Sierra Leone and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. She held the first ever Girl Summit in London in 2014, an initiative where young people work to help combat female genital mutilation and early and forced marriage.
Greening was appointed Secretary of State for Education in Theresa May’s new Cabinet in July 2016. Greening resigned from the Cabinet in January 2018.
Before entering parliament, she trained as an accountant, working for companies including PwC, GlaxoSmithKline and Centrica.
