London Business School partners with One Young World
First-of-its-kind scholarship agreed as part of a wide-ranging partnership
London Business School (LBS) has partnered with One Young World, the global forum for young leaders who are committed to positive change, to create the One Young World & London Business School Scholarship.
This unique collaboration will provide a life-changing opportunity for a high-achieving young person to attend one of LBS’s world-renowned Early Careers programmes for the 2020/21 academic year. The study options include LBS’s Masters in Financial Analysis, Masters in Management or Masters in Analytics and Management.
The One Young World & London Business School Scholarship will be awarded on a needs and merit basis to a member of the One Young World network who embodies the principles of both organisations and is committed to leveraging responsible business practices to realise positive social change. LBS will meet all programme tuition fees and include a stipend to assist with living costs for the duration of the programme.
The initiative marks the first time One Young World has partnered with a university to develop and deliver a fully-funded scholarship.
Further information on the initiative can be found on the One Young World & London Business School Scholarship portal.
LBS delegation
This new partnership with One Young World also sees LBS sending a delegation of 10 people – all of whom took part in a competitive application process - to experience One Young World’s 10th annual summit, from 22 to 25 October 2019, in London.
The LBS delegation of top young talent is to comprise two current students and three recent graduates (all five from the Early Careers programmes), as well as two LBS staff members.
Joining LBS’s delegation are three young leaders from Kosovo, Nigeria and Zimbabwe who have been selected from thousands of applicants seeking to attend the One Young World summit in London. LBS’s Early Careers team, together with the Wheeler Institute for Business and Development, is funding these three places.
The Wheeler Institute for Business and Development builds awareness about the unique role business can play to improve the lives of the world’s most disadvantaged communities. Its aim is to improve lives through identifying what needs to change and applying relevant business insights.
The 10 delegates have been chosen for their leadership qualities and commitment to the role business can play in bringing about positive social impact.
Commenting on the One Young World & London Business School partnership, François Ortalo-Magné, Dean of LBS, said:
“This exclusive and unique partnership marks a step-change at LBS and confirms the School’s deep-rooted commitment to identifying, educating and nurturing the next generation of business leaders to drive positive change.
“LBS believes the business community has an immensely important role in enabling positive change across the world. We are therefore delighted to fund a transformational new scholarship and to send a team of highly talented people to the London One Young World summit.”
This commitment to creating positive change is reflected in LBS’s vision which states: ‘We strive to have a profound impact on the way the world does business and the way business impacts the world.’
After attending the One Young World summit, delegates return home and develop existing initiatives or spearhead new ventures which have the aim of bringing about positive change in their community and beyond.
