Marshall was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. He pursued his undergraduate studies in South Africa at the University of Cape Town, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Science in Actuarial Science.
He began his career as a quantitative analyst at an award-winning investment boutique that is renowned for launching South Africa’s first fund of hedge funds, first multi-strategy hedge fund and first local blend of proprietary investors. He spent over three years in this role and gained extensive experience in portfolio construction, quantitative research and risk management.
Before joining London Business School, he worked as an associate at a London-based value investment boutique that focuses on Asian markets (excluding China and Hong Kong). In this role, he gained experience in sustainable investing while supporting portfolio managers through conducting effective analysis and integration of ESG issues into investment processes. He has completed all three CFA levels and is a GARP Certified Financial Risk Manager. Marshall decided to pursue the LBS Masters in Finance programme to gain a unique combination of finance expertise and leadership skills by leveraging LBS’s exceptionally talented faculty, incredibly diverse student body, strong alumni network and prestigious global reputation in finance.
He is the recipient of both the LBS Masters in Finance Merit Scholarship and the Taylor Family Scholarship. In addition to being a student ambassador, Marshall is a member of the Executive Committee of the LBS Africa Club. He is an active member of the Investment Management Club and Social Impact Club. In his spare time, he enjoys playing touch rugby with classmates, running, hiking, travelling, wine tasting and on many occasions, he finds himself lost in a good non-fiction book.
