    Getting the tools

    Breaking the rules

Understand the resources needed to implement a strategic vision and how to identify them. Know the common obstacles organisations face when trying to improve their strategies, and how to manage them.

Master the essential tools and techniques, and then look at how you can take strategy even further, by breaking the traditional rules and finding new, innovative ways to address your business challenges.

    Making a difference

Explore ways to question your organisation’s current approach to business. Examine how you can create and capture value by rethinking value propositions, identifying unmet customer needs, and restructuring business models.

Consider how you move beyond traditional sources of competitive advantage in innovative ways from collaborating with competitors to competing with collaborators. Look at how sectors evolve, how value migrates and how to maintain your advantage in a rapidly shifting environment.

    A real-world strategic challenge

A unique aspect of this programme is the practical application of your learning to your own business. Your journey through a framework of key themes empowers you to make better strategic decisions (the key themes include: enabling creativity; analysing reality; creating value; managing complexity; and capturing value). Identify the issues surrounding your challenge and use your new skills to build a bespoke action plan you can implement back at work.

    Skill-building case histories

To strengthen your understanding of strategy and develop your skills, you work on case studies drawn from an international mix of companies and a diverse range of industries. You examine problems facing companies, such as online money exchange Zopa.com, considering their strategy and analysing their actions. Pinpoint what worked, what didn’t, and why. In the process, you build both skills and confidence in applying strategy to real business situations.
