Jean-Pierre Benoît

Professor Jean-Pierre Benoît is an expert in microeconomic theory, industrial organisation, game theory, and law and economics. He is an elected Fellow of the British Academy and of the Econometric Society, reflecting his standing as a distinguished scholar in his field. His current research focuses on a diverse range of subjects, including auctions, voting theory, dynamic competition, entry deterrence, affirmative action, overconfidence and apparent behavioural biases.

His research has been published in leading economics, political science and law journals, demonstrating the breadth and impact of his scholarly contributions. Professor Benoît has been recognised for his exceptional teaching excellence, winning the Best Teacher Award in the EMBA programme. He brings extensive experience in curriculum development and academic leadership, having served as Chair of the Economics Subject Area and Chair of the PhD Programme at London Business School. Professor Benoît joined London Business School in 2006 from New York University, where he held positions as Professor of Economics and Professor of Law. His academic career has spanned leading institutions including Columbia University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Southern California and California Institute of Technology.
