Abstract
This is part of a case series. Iginio Straffi, a young and entrepreneurial comic artist, was determined to set his own children's animation company. In 1995 he co-founded Rainbow Ltd, and during the company's first three years, he managed to secure contract work as well as the funds necessary to produce 'Tommy & Oscar' - Rainbow's first wholly owned TV series. In the wake of the Asian Financial Crisis, however, Rainbow's major partner found itself in dire straits and resolved to terminate their contract. Straffi would have to overcome a seemingly insurmountable combination of financial, operational and commercial challenges if he expected Rainbow to survive.
