Abstract

Kamalini Ramdas was convinced that good things would happen if top health care practitioners could spend a day speaking with leading-edge business thinkers. She proposed that London Business School and Cambridge University arrange such a conference, and the event was held in July 2010. Some 100 people attended — including 27 chief executives of Hospital Trusts and Strategic Health Authorities, 10 chief executives of private-sector businesses providing health care services to public health care providers, and a dozen or more business school faculty. The result was an invigorating interchange of new ideas.
