Applications for the GMiM August 2018 intake are now open.

Please review the below guide which contains important information about the admissions calendar, required application documents and what to expect once you’ve applied. Please carefully review all sections prior to submitting your application.

 

Admissions process and calendar


  • Admissions process

    You may apply at any of the four application deadlines indicated in the admissions calendar. Your admissions journey is staged, but the Admissions Committee reserves the right to communicate decisions outside of these application deadlines with you. Your initial review decision will be communicated within four weeks of a complete application being submitted and in most cases you will receive a final decision within six to eight weeks. Please note that interview and final decisions are sent on a rolling basis, and the latest final decision deadline indicates the final date by when you can expect to receive a final decision.

    The same selection criteria are applied throughout the admissions cycle, but competition is often intense in the final months and we recommend you apply as early as possible. If you require a visa to study in the UK or wish to be considered for a London Business School scholarship you are strongly encouraged to apply no later than the end of April 2018.

    The Admissions Team will be conducting interview trips in China (January 2018) and India (February 2018). If you wish to be considered for these interview trips you are encouraged to apply no later than the 2nd November for the China interview trip and the 11th January for the India interview trip.

    If you would like to be considered for a London Business School scholarship you will need to have applied by the 12th April 2018.

Required application documents

  • A completed online application form

    The application form is designed to be completed over several sessions. You can save your work as you go and submit the completed form at any time ahead of the final admissions deadline.

  • Application essays

    Application essays are your opportunity to tell us more about yourself and detail your interests, values and goals. We are interested in what motivates you, evidence of leadership and team work, why you are looking to pursue a Global Masters in Management, and what you will bring to the LBS community.


    Essays are a vital part of your application and we recommend that you spend a significant amount of time in their preparation. They must be specific to the current application and personal statements will not be accepted in lieu of the essays.

  • Application videos

    Global Masters in Management applicants will be required to complete an additional video essay component of the application via Kira Academic. You will receive the details of how to access your video questions via Kira within one week of submitting your application. If you do not receive the instructions within this timescale please contact us. Please note your application will not be considered complete until the video portion of your application has been submitted.

  • GMAT (range 600-800) / GRE equivalent score)

    Candidates must take either the GMAT or GRE prior to submitting an application. If you have not received your official score report when submitting your application we do accept the unofficial score report as evidence of your GMAT/GRE. The minimum score required for the GMAT is 600.

    Why take GMAT / GRE?

    The GMAT / GRE test are important tools allowing the Admissions Committee to assess a candidate’s aptitude for graduate management study. With candidates coming from different undergraduate study disciplines and education systems from around the world, these tests give the Committee an indication of a candidate’s potential to succeed academically.

  • One page CV

    We recommend that you use our CV template however you can submit a CV of your own formatting. Follow the instructions within the online application form to attach the document to your application.

  • Name and details of two referees

    You will be required to submit the names and details of two referees - Preferably one academic and one professional - in the online system. Ensure that you select individuals who know you well and who can provide specific feedback on their interactions with you either inside of the classroom or in the workplace.

  • Proof of English language ability

    If English is not your native language, or if you have not been studying fully in English or living in an English-speaking country for at least two years, please submit your IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge CPE, CAE or PTE Academic score. Other tests will not be accepted.We do not require a hard copy of your score report at the application stage and will verify your test score during the admissions process. Please make London Business School the score recipient to your test score so we are able to verify your scores electronically.

  • Application fee

    A non-refundable fee of £90 for the programme beginning August 2018, payable online by credit card upon submission of your application. An application fee waiver is available to graduates of the University of London upon production of your degree transcript.

  • A copy of your university transcript(s)

    Transcripts should include a comprehensive record of completed courses, grades and class of degree received and, if possible, class ranking. If your transcript is not in English you must provide a certified or notarised English translation.


    If you have not yet completed your degree you will need to request a transcript that is current at the time of applying. Admitted students will be required to provide original copies prior to the programme starting.

Once you have applied

  • What to expect after you have submitted your application
    • You must submit all required documents, including essays, GMAT/GRE, references, transcript(s) and application fee before the Admissions Committee can consider your application. If anything is missing from your application you may be notified by the Admissions Team and given a deadline to submit this information. If this deadline is not met, your application will be reviewed by the Committee as is and the decision to take your application to the interview stage will be made on the basis of the information submitted. Please note your application submission date is determined by when your application is complete. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to make a decision on any submitted application, it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure their application is complete at the time of submission.
    • Once you have submitted your application you will receive via email and auto response confirming receipt of your application. The auto response will include important information about next steps, including paying the application fee, submitting additional documentation, as well as further details of the interviewing process, so please do ensure you read this carefully.
    • All decisions are communicated via email. We are not able to discuss a candidate's decision over the phone, or with anyone other than the applicant. We will contact you directly should any document or information be missing. Please note all decisions are final.
  • Interviews

    A decision will be made to invite you to interview based on your initial application review. If you are located in the UK, you will be asked to travel to London Business School to conduct an interview with a member of our Admissions Team or alumni community. Please note that if you are located in Western Europe, you should list the city nearest to you; if we are unable to match you with an alumni interviewer then you may be asked to travel to London.


    In cases where candidates are unable to travel to London, interviews will be conducted by members of our alumni community. Please note interviews conducted by alumni may take longer to coordinate, and the scheduling of your interview will not affect your application.


    In some cases a Skype interview may be conducted when a face-to-face meeting is not possible, however, the majority of interviews will be conducted in person on or off campus.


    Some candidates may be asked to conduct a follow-up interview where there are outstanding questions about the application, and the Admissions Team will contact such candidates directly.


    Please note both the Admissions Team and alumni utilise the same interview process, and the Admissions Committee will employ the same assessment regardless of the interviewer (staff or alumni) or location. Who you interview with and where will not have any impact on the outcome of your application.

  • Waitlist

    We operate a waitlist system and waitlisted applicants receive regular updates at scheduled dates. Each year a number of waitlist candidates are successful in getting a place on the programme.


    Waitlisted candidates may be required to conduct a follow-up interview with a member of the Early Career Programmes Office, and information about any such interview will be communicated to the candidate.
