Council accredits Schools PhD hub
The PhD programme run by London Business School has been accredited by the Economic and Social Research Council.
The development is significant as the School is the only small, specialist institution to be given Doctoral Training Centre status.
The council has been able to accredit just 21 centres because of Government cuts to social science training. Most of the accreditation was awarded to large universities.
Council approval of the School's PhD courses will help fund running costs for as many as 10 studentships a year, a higher number than usual.
A spokesman for the School said the award reflects the faculty's "outstanding reputation" for research.
“Professor Bruce Hardie (former Chair of the PhD Programme) and the PhD Programme team are to be congratulated on this achievement.”
