My greatest challenge when I applied to business school was: Evaluating the trade-offs between continuing my full-time role or going to business school.

About me: Born and bred in Singapore, I attended Yale-NUS College where I studied Global Affairs. My academic interest during my undergraduate studies was in Chinese foreign policy and I interned as a research assistant at the Centre for Strategic Futures, a futures think tank under the Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore.

In a turn of events (and some luck), I found myself interning in a back office role at Goldman Sachs Hong Kong and, upon graduation, joined the Singapore office full time. While working, I had the chance to explore the finance industry and discover areas that were aligned to my strengths and interests. However, I was still keen to return to school to develop the key skills necessary for a career switch.

I chose the Masters in Management programme at LBS because I wanted to develop a broad view of management and deepen my knowledge of finance. LBS also had a very strong Graduate Masters team who could provide great insight and support in my career goals. Moreover, I was drawn to the diverse community and active campus life at LBS. Here, I have found many opportunities to explore different passions and find like-minded people to do the same.

I’m excited to explore different running trails in London, embark on new adventures with the Expedition and Snow Club and try new things that are out of my comfort zone (dancing is at the top of my list). Expectations for the year are high and I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year holds!

Three topics I can be approached about: Moving to London; student clubs at LBS; early-career support at LBS.
