Why LBS?

After finishing my undergraduate degree I quickly realised that I did not yet have the network or support system to compete in the professional world. I felt that a Masters in Management (MiM) would increase the value of my profile and would give me the tools to grow professionally. Offering a prestigious reputation, global impact and a top career centre, London Business School was an easy choice. It was also a major plus on my CV.

One of the great things about MiM is that it helped me become responsible for my own development. The programme is highly practical with a curriculum designed to improve both hard and soft skills in a progressive and natural way. Case studies foster strategic thinking and professors act as clients to help frame and structure the student approach. Different clubs, guest speaker events and MBA mentoring initiatives broadened my perspective in a wide variety of business areas and provided fantastic opportunities to network with highly experienced professionals. Highlights were the Business Immersion and Career Weeks – both provided the chance to visit companies and question senior managers. This was extremely helpful in working out what job would suit best my personality and ambitions.

Throughout MiM I was very focused on channelling, filtering and selecting the most appropriate opportunities for my future career. I learned the tools to perform my job with confidence but it was the London Business School brand that gave me the credibility to be taken seriously. After less than a year at FutureBrand, I have been given the opportunity to lead my own global FMCG client project and have been promoted to consultant level. The School is a stamp of quality, a promise of excellence for employers and a launch pad for young graduates.

The MiM programme not only taught me new skills, it also helped me think business. It has been an amazing boost to my professional reputation and has opened up a world of opportunities. Belonging to the School’s alumni community is a great way to stay connected with the latest academic thinking and with the network I created during the course. Where I had knowledge before, now I can apply it. I cannot think of a better springboard to a successful international career and I would do it all over again if I had the choice.
