Internship options
From June to September during your first year on the MBA Programme you have the chance to put what you've learned on the MBA into practice while working on a business plan or trying out a new industry, job function or organisation. You have three options:
- Summer Internship
- Summer Consulting Programme
- Entrepreneurship Summer School
Summer Internship
Most students on the MBA Programme undertake an 8-12 week paid internship at the end of the first year. This helps put your first year learning into perspective and reveals your own capabilities and goals.
What can the Summer Internship do for me?
A summer of intense work experience gives you the chance to:
- change your career by trying out a new industry or job function
- accelerate your current career by working abroad or developing a specialist interest
- earn money while you learn - the 2008 class earned £1,003 (US$2,081) per week on average.
How can I arrange an internship?
The majority of students arrange their internship through the School Careers Service. Others use personal contacts or the School's wide network of students, alumni and industry contacts.

Summer Consulting Programme
Every year, six of our top MBA students join forces to become the London Business School Summer Consulting Team. With full access to School resources, they provide high-end consultancy services to a range of clients throughout the summer internship period.

Entrepreneurship Summer School
The Entrepreneurship Summer School is ideal if you are interested in:
- pursuing a business idea of your own
- starting a career as an entrepreneur
- learning to develop and shape opportunities.
You'll explore a business opportunity in a practical format and test the feasibility of your idea through active research in your proposed markets. You can then study other electives in entrepreneurship and work on a business plan as you finish your second year on the MBA programme.
