What are the benefits of attending an Executive Education programme?

What is the dress code on the programme?

Your joining instructions will be sent out via email approximately 4-6 weeks before the programme starts (so make sure you give us a valid email address).


What can I do in my spare time in London?

Anything you want! London is a wonderful backdrop for your studies, offering:

Is there a qualification at the end of the programme?
The Finance Executive Programmes are non-degree programmes and there is no formal academic qualification.  Participants will receive a certificate of attendance.


Are there any exams?
No, the participants are not assessed.


Will I get credits towards a Masters in Finance degree?
As the programmes are not assessed, credits are not awarded.


Do I have to be sponsored by my employer?
Most participants on the finance executive programmes will be sponsored by their company but it is possible for individuals to sponsor themselves. To do this, please enter your own details on the sponsoring executive section of the form.


Are there any scholarships?
No.


What is the cancellation and transfer policy?
Cancellation fees are as follows:

 

  •  0 - 14 days  - 100% of the Programme/ Module fee payable
  • 15-28 days - 50% payable
  • 29-42 days - 25% payable

Transfer fees are as follows (possible if the programme fees have already been paid in full):

  •  0 - 14 days - 50% of the Programme/ Module fee payable
  • 15-28 days - 35% payable
  • 29-42 days - 20% payable

Is work experience required?
Work experience is required for all our finance executive programmes.  The Corporate Finance Evening Programme attracts participants ranging from those with a minimum of two years work experience to those in senior positions.


Can I come to London and get a work permit whilst on a programme? 
No. Enrolling on one of our Finance Executive Programmes will not entitle you to a UK work visa. 


Is there any accommodation?
Overnight accommodation is not included in the fee, but information about local accommodation will be provided on acceptance to the programme and earlier, if requested.


How much self-study/work is there?
Participants will be expected to be free of all other commitments during the programmes. The daily schedule includes lectures, group work and discussions, as well as review and preparation sessions.  The formal sessions start at 9.00 am each day and there will be work scheduled for the evenings.


Can I use Career Services during the programme?
No, Career Services is only available to participants on degree programmes and alumni.


Can I apply for modules on the Corporate Finance Modular Programme and the Corporate Finance Evening Programme?
If there is no overlap in dates, participants could, for instance, undertake Term 1 of the Corporate Finance Evening Programme and then Modules 2 and 3 of the Corporate Finance Modular Programme.  They would pay the fee for one term only of the evening programme plus the fee for two modules on the Corporate Finance Modular Programme.


Will I get alumni status?
For the Corporate Finance Modular Programme only, upon completion of all three modules, you become an alumnus of London Business School and have access to a number of events and lectures, as well as our online community.

Is there a qualification at the end of the programme?
This is a non-degree course and there is no formal academic qualification.  However, participants can receive a certificate of attendance if they complete at least two terms and attend at least eight out of ten sessions in each term.


Do I have to be sponsored by my employer?
Most participants on the finance executive programmes will be sponsored by their company but it is possible for individuals to sponsor themselves.


Is work experience required?
Work experience is required for all our finance executive programmes.  The Corporate Finance Evening Programme attracts participants ranging from those with a minimum of two years work experience to those in senior positions.


Can I come to London and get a work permit whilst on the course?
No, enrolling on one of our finance executive programmes will not entitle you to a student or work visa.  People undertaking our executive programmes are already in employment.


Are there any scholarships?
There are no scholarships.


Do I have to take the whole programme?
Coporate Finance Evening Programme
No.  It is possible to undertake Term 1 only, Finance Accounting and Analysis, Term 2 only, Corporate Finance and Valuation or Term 3 only, Corporate Finance and Risk Management.  It is possible to undertake 2 of the 3 terms.  Most participants undertake the whole programme of 3 terms.

Investment Management Evening Programme
No.  It is possible to undertake Term 1 only, Equity Portfolio Management, Term 2 only, Fixed Income Markets and Bond Portfolio Management or Term 3 only, Derivatives, Markets and Models.  It is possible to undertake 2 of the 3 terms.  Most participants undertake the whole programme of 3 terms.

 


How much self-study/work is there?
We are conscious that a lot of participants have very demanding careers so you will not be expected to undertake enormous amounts of personal study.  Typically, 2 to 3 hours a week would suffice.  Obviously, the more you put in the more you will get out of the programme.


Are there any exams?
No, this is an executive non-examined programme.  However, if you would like to ascertain how much you have learnt and understood, participants can do the optional take-home exam at the end of each term.


Will I get academic credits towards the Masters in Finance?
No.


Can I use Career Services during the programme?
No, Career Services is only available to participants on degree programmes.


Will I get alumni status?
Upon completion of all three terms, you become an alumnus of London Business School and have access to a number of events and lectures, as well as our online community.

Which is the best airport to fly to?

The most convenient airport is London Heathrow.


How do I get from the Airport to London Business School?

Heathrow: take the Heathrow Express to Paddington station, then take a taxi or use the Underground.
Gatwick: take the Gatwick Express to Victoria station, then take a taxi or use the Underground.
Stansted: take the Stansted Express to Liverpool Street station, then take a taxi or use the Underground.
City Airport: take a taxi to the West End


Can I hire a car to take me to and from the airport?

Will London Business School pay for my transport to and from the airport?

Transfers to and from the airport are the responsibility of the individual.


Where is the nearest London Underground Station?

Baker Street Station, on the Bakerloo, Jubilee, Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines, is a 5-minute walk from London Business School. For further instructions see our maps


Programme information

When do I need to arrive at London Business School and where do I check in?

You will receive this information in your joining instructions.


How much free time will I have?

See the sample timetable for an idea of how the programme will be structured. You will receive more detailed information in your joining instructions.


Do I have to attend every session?

To get the most from the programme, we recommend you attend every session. If you have any issues about this, speak to the Programme Director.


If my programme starts on Sunday evening, do I need to attend?

Yes, you must attend the opening session. It is an essential introduction to your programme themes and a foundation for the rest of the week.


When is the Optional Financial Accounting session? (Senior Executive Programme and Emerging Leaders Programme only)

The Optional Financial Accounting session takes place the Sunday before the programme starts. If you'd like to attend, schedule the extra time in your diary and confirm your travel plans with your Programme Manager.


Accommodation

Where will I be staying?

Participants on some residential programmes stay on the school campus (see programme pages). If you are not staying at the School, local hotels nearby offer preferential rates.


What type of accommodation will I have?

If you are staying at the School, you will stay in an individual study bedroom. All rooms are centrally heated, comfortably furnished and equipped with:

  • full en-suite bathroom facilities
  • a universal shaver point
  • radio alarm
  • satellite TV
  • direct dial telephone
  • free WIFI access 
  • tea/coffee-making facilities
  • a hair dryer

Can I book accommodation so I can arrive before the start of the programme?

Yes, you can. We'll send you a reservation form in your joining instructions, which you will need to return as soon as possible. You'll receive your joining instructions 4-6 weeks before your programme starts.


Will I get a reduction in cost if I don't stay on campus?

Sorry, there's no reduction in the fee if you choose not to use the bedroom provided.


Cancellations

To avoid a cancellation or transfer fee, we must receive your cancellation, in writing, no less than six weeks before th prgramme starts.
