It provides you with an in-depth understanding of capital structure and the financing options available to companies and covers the important areas of payout policy, mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring.
The first part of the programme focuses on the application of derivatives in corporate finance settings: real options, risk management and optimal gearing. The second part concentrates on the important areas of dividend policy, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, financial distress, the security issuance process, and long-term financial planning.
Key topics include:
- Effective risk management
- Funding and merger and acquisition restructuring methods
- Financial decision making
- Capital structure
- Designing risk management structures.
On completion, you will be able to:
- Design a company's capital structure strategy
- Raise funds effectively
- Design a basic risk management strategy
- Assess the merits of mergers and other restructuring activities
- Undertake long-term financial planning
You will have the opportunity to use real-life business case studies to apply key concepts introduced in lectures. Group work and discussions will reinforce your learning, and great emphasis is placed on class participation.
Because these programmes attract experienced, diverse and motivated business professionals from around the world, you gain inspiring international perspectives on funding, risk and restructuring.
Funding, Risk and Restructuring may only be taken after completing the Valuation programme or with relevant financial accounting and valuation experience.
The programme is offered in both day and evening formats which share the same curriculum.
The day format is an intensive learning experience with the programme running over five consecutive days. Work continues from morning to evening to enable you to benefit from maximum learning.
The evening format is held every Wednesday evening for 10 weeks so you may study without disruption to your work life. While the evening format requires less hours on campus, participants spend a significant proportion of their time outside of this for preparation and reflection of programme material.
The Funding, Risk, and Restructuring programme forms part of a three-programme sequence including Accounting and Financial Analysis; and Valuation, which can be taken individually or in any combination. Completion of all three programmes means you gain access to London Business School's global alumni community.
