Grant Aarons is a first-year PhD student in the Economics Programme at London Business School. He holds a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art; having been awarded a four-year full-tuition scholarship to study at the private college in the east village of New York City.
Prior to joining the London Business School, Grant had spent two years as an analyst in the research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. While at the central bank, he helped develop macroeconomic forecasting models used by senior bank staff and was the lead research analyst on a number of dynamic factor modeling projects. Grant is particularly interested in the real-time data flow as it pertains to a class of econometric techniques commonly referred to as nowcasting. He is also interested in exploring the use of survey data as a supplement to hard data in forecasting.
