Learning experience

The MFA delivers an unparalleled global learning experience that combines dynamic classroom experience with exposure to the international world of finance.

Located in the heart London, the world’s foremost capital market, class time is where you actively explore new ideas and concepts, deepening your understanding through interaction with peers and faculty. Beyond the classroom, you directly engage with the world of finance through structured activities and trips that expose you to real-life challenges in an international context.

Classroom experience

Class time is about hands-on learning at LBS. You will experience a range of action-oriented learning activities that will build knowledge, analytical understanding and the decision-making skills to tackle real-world challenges. And fast track your career.

  • Study groups and assignments

Get outside of your comfort zone. Work with peers from more than 35 countries with different approaches to problem-solving and team work, and different undergraduate degrees – in carefully selected study groups. We maximise the diversity so you can gain insights into what it’s like working with people from across the globe.

  • Faculty

Orchestrating the classroom experience is LBS faculty. Some of the finest thinkers in business and finance, faculty are experts in developing in-depth theoretical understanding together with business-ready skills to tackle real-life challenges. Using a range of techniques from case studies to simulations, faculty will empower you to manage complexity, solve problems and make sound decisions.

  • Case studies and simulations

In the safety of your classroom environment, learn how to navigate the sorts of challenges you will come up against in a typical analyst role post-programme. Using the very latest financial software and your deepening knowledge of the financial markets, you will find – and defend – workable solutions to real-world problems. And build the analytical and decision-making skills and the confidence to secure your graduate job.

  • Personal Development

Your ability to build relationships and deliver powerful presentations that connect with your audience will be critical to your success – no matter which direction you take your finance career in. Customise your personal development plan to build the self-awareness, confidence and critical workplace skills finance recruiters look for. From workshops teaching you to make an impact online to networking and presentation skills, you’ll tailor your plan each term, for maximum personal impact.

  • Languages

A second language is an important route to success in today’s global business environment. Take advantage of this superb opportunity to boost your skills with a new language.

Beyond the classroom

We connect you with businesses and finance practitioners from around the globe so that you get to see theory in action, build real-world understanding and skills and extend your international business network.

  • International business exposure

Deepen your understanding of how business is done in different cultures. Global International Field Trips and career treks to strategic hubs around the world expose you to business practice in situ; giving you the opportunity to translate class theory into real-world practice and gain first-hand experience of grappling with dynamic challenges in diverse settings.

  • London Business Challenge Week

There’s no substitute for experience. And your London Business Challenge Week gives you immersive experience, working with a leading London-based organisation to tackle real-world ambiguity and complexity in an authentic, fast-moving setting. You come away equipped with real-life understanding and skills to hit the ground running when you graduate.

  • Guest speakers and practitioners

Gain expert insight into how our complex global business world operates, its challenges and the innovative business practices that differentiate top performers. • Internship

The introduction of a fourth term expands your eligibility to apply for more internship opportunities. For companies recruiting on a strict penultimate year policy, you will now be able to apply for summer internships commencing at the end of your core course work, then return to campus in the autumn term for additional electives. Students are required to source their own internship opportunities.

  • Career exposure

Our central London location and exceptional reputation gives you the chance to connect with global recruiters, including representatives from top global banks such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, Citi, Credit Suisse, Nomura, Macquarie, Standard Chartered and Itaú.

In addition to the large global investment banks we welcome on campus, our students have also found fulfilling careers in finance roles across a variety of companies in the finance, professional services and corporate world such as Bloomberg, Fosun Group, Cargill, Deloitte, Estee Lauder, Amazon, General Atlantic, PwC, KPMG, Louis Dreyfuss, Pictet, Virgin Green Fund and Yorkville Advisors.
