Choose the format that works for you
The Masters in Finance programme is designed to give you variety, scope and flexibility. It’s your programme, so we help you structure it to suit your career goals.
General Masters in Finance
Many students choose to follow a generalist track, giving you a broad choice of stimulating electives, practitioner courses and events to choose from. The generalist track equips you with the skills you need to be adept and confident across a wide range of finance functions.
Choose a study route that prepares you for a specific career path. Select from one of four concentrations and showcase your skills to prospective employers. Acquire a deep and thorough understanding of major functional roles and develop vital, in-depth knowledge to propel your career forward.
- Investment Management and Analysis – focuses on fund management, through managing investment portfolios or researching investments.
- Corporate Finance – targets advisory and strategic planning roles in companies and financial institutions.
- Risk Management and Derivatives – for those pursuing careers in treasury and management roles in companies.
- CFO – supports those seeking to advance to a CFO position, responsible for financial stewardship, strategic partnering and value creation.
Optional Fourth term (full-time students)
The optional fourth term opens up a range of opportunities for you including internships to build your experience and exchanges to further your international exposure.
Build your knowledge of the financial sector from an international perspective by spending a term on exchange at a business school in a growth market. The exchange counts towards your electives credits and offers you new insights into global finance as well as expanding your network in that region.
Immerse yourself in a hands-on learning environment and build vital connections that could turn into job prospects. Find out more about the types of organisations our students get internships in our employment report.
Undertake a company project as an elective, either for your sponsoring company or one you’d like to work for. Analyse an event, transaction or situation to deepen your practical knowledge, gain exposure to real business issues and strengthen your networks. This can also form part of a Concentration.
Continue to customise your learning from the autumn term elective portfolio of approximately 16 electives. Discover more about our full range of electives available to Masters in Finance students.
Global Business Experience
New to the programme and shared with MBA students, the New York/Boston GBE is an immersive, one week trip focused on the Asset Management industry. You will visit various companies, locations and speaker events which are designed to help build your knowledge and network. The GBE can be taken as an elective credit.
