Securing excellence through strategy, culture and governance

Through a systematic tool-based process of diagnosis, evaluation, and action-planning The Sustainable Family Business will help you develop your own bespoke approach to mastering the major challenges that regularly confront family businesses.

Create long term sustainable performance by understanding the dynamics of key players and owners within the business, the use of governance and management systems, and the strategic positioning of your firm in its business environment.

This programme is designed for large to medium multigenerational family businesses and is best suited to the family member owner plus one more within the business (for example: nxg, exec/non exec board member)

Reasons to choose this programme:

  • What sets this family business course apart is its focus on both “technical” and “interpersonal” aspects of governing and managing a family business. Participants will learn how to both manage complex family and non-family dynamics, as well as how to go about creating a portfolio strategy.
  • Delivered by internationally recognised leaders in family business scholarship and consulting, Professor Nigel Nicholson with Heinz-Peter Elstrodt and Åsa Björnberg, both formerly responsible for McKinsey’s family business practice.
  • Before you join the programme you will undertake a diagnostic of your own situation with one of the course leaders to enable your specific issues to be addressed once you are in London.
  • The learning approach is practical, and hands on – you will spend time in deep two way discussion with your peers and experimenting with your new skills in your own ‘learning set’.
  • You will hear from guest speakers, owners of prominent family firms who can talk to the specific issues you are facing.
  • Within 6 months of the programme the course leaders will follow up to discuss your action plan with you and support you with any barriers that you may be facing.
