A London Business School behavioural expert has been engaged as Academic Advisor to the Banking Standards Board as it continues to develop its framework to assess culture, behaviour and competence at banks and building societies in the UK.

Celia Moore, Assistant Professor of Organisational Behaviour, London Business School, has been engaged as an Academic Advisor for the further development of the Banking Standards Board’s assessment process, and as part of this joins the Steering Committee overseeing this work. The Banking Standards Board is an independent body that promotes high standards of behaviour and competence across the UK banking industry. The assessment exercise aims to provide an impartial and objective assessment of the industry’s progress.

Dr Moore says: “I am delighted to be working with this group of dedicated professionals to develop the tools the industry can use to understand where high standards of behaviour are being exhibited, as well as where they may need to focus their efforts for improvement.”

Moore is one of seven members of the Banking Standards Board’s Assessment Steering Committee who share a commitment to promoting high standards of behaviour and competence across the entire banking and building society sector.

Dr Moore has been on the London Business School faculty since 2007 and teaches ethics, corporate social responsibility, and business and society in the core MBA and Executive MBA programmes.

Moore’s research focuses on the unanticipated causes and consequences of unethical behaviour and organisational corruption, and she has consulted with a number of organisations, creating training programmes to ensure, create and embed more ethical cultures. These include: the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, the International Anti-Corruption Academy, and the NHS.
