The AQR Asset Management Institute is pleased to recognise Anton Lines, a PhD candidate in Finance from London Business School, as the recipient of the AQR Fellowship Award 2016.
The award, which recognises research excellence and includes a prize of £10,000, was presented by Anna Pavlova, Professor of Finance and Academic Director, AQR Asset Management Institute, London Business School and David Kabiller, Co-Founder, AQR Capital Management. PhD candidate Jean-Marie Meier was also recognised as a finalist for the award. The ceremony took place at London Business School’s AQR Asset Management Institute annual Insight Summit on 2 November 2016.
Professor Pavlova said: “Anton Lines and Jean-Marie Meier (finalist) are superb young scholars who have each produced a solid body of work. Anton is recognised for his research on performance and incentives of asset managers, and Jean-Marie for his work on the implications of regulation for financial markets and innovation, and his research on fire sales. We wish them continuing success in their future careers.”
David Kabiller, Co-Founder of AQR, said: “We are pleased to congratulate Anton Lines and Jean-Marie Meier. They were selected for their academic excellence, innovative perspectives highly relevant to investment practice, and their strong leadership qualities. We wish them both great success and encourage them to mentor and inspire others towards achieving excellence.”
Anton Lines, PhD candidate in Finance, London Business School, said: “I am extremely grateful not only to receive this honour, but also that the Institute has supported my research and the research of my colleagues through data grants over the past two years. The AQR Fellowship Award is emblematic of the AQR Asset Management Institute’s strong support for young scholars in finance, accounting and economics. The PhD programme and LBS in general, are very fortunate to have such generous sponsorship.”
This is the second annual AQR Fellowship Award. In 2015 the award was presented at the Insight Summit to Ryan Lewis, PhD candidate in Finance, for his research into the role of intermediaries in asset pricing. The AQR Fellowship Award is one of a series of awards established by the AQR Asset Management Institute to recognise and advance excellence in asset management among rising scholars and future industry leaders.
