Yuichi graduated from Meiji University in Tokyo with a degree in law, and started his career at the Japanese Ministry of Finance. Before joining London Business School, he had seven years of work experience at the ministry in a variety of fields such as budget policy, tax policy, financial regulation etc. He also worked in some regional parts of Japan. Through this career experience, Yuichi understood that the Japanese population is shrinking and creating severe economic challenges, particularly for smaller communities across the country; he set his career goal as a government official to revise and utilise financial regulations or other tools to spur economic growth.
To achieve this goal, he decided to pursue a Masters in Finance to gain financial knowledge and technical skills. He chose LBS because of its expert faculty, powerful brand and incredibly diverse community. In addition to being a student ambassador, Yuichi is on the Executive Committee of the LBS Japan Club and is an active member of the Debate and Public Speaking Club. He has also joined some other clubs, including the Consulting, Social Impact and Impact Consulting clubs, to expand his perspectives and networks.
Outside LBS, he leads the Evidenced Based Policy Making (EBPM) study group with his friends who are studying in other schools in London. In his spare time, he enjoys London life, going to pubs with his friends, and travelling the UK and Europe.
