About me: Shajia is a CFA Charterholder and graduated as valedictorian from the Institute of Business Administration, Bangladesh. Prior to joining LBS, Shajia worked as vice president and team head in the corporate banking team at HSBC, where she led an eight-member team and worked closely with the bank’s executive team on strategy design and execution. She was the first female and youngest ever employee to be promoted to this role.
Shajia decided to join LBS to expand her network and pursue an international career. London Business School's MBA, with its incredibly diverse student community representing more than 60 nationalities, aligned perfectly with her goals. Shajia received two scholarships to pursue her MBA at LBS. She also received Kearney’s Inspiring Female Leaders award and a McKinsey Next Generation Women Leaders award during her first year of studies.
Coming from a patriarchal society, Shajia is a strong advocate of female empowerment. At HSBC, she was an executive member of the bank’s women’s network, aiming to promote diversity in the workplace. She also personally mentored many young women at work. At LBS, besides being a student ambassador, Shajia is co-chairing LBS’s flagship Women in Business Conference 2021 (one of Europe’s largest forums for discussion and progression of gender equality). She is also a peer leader for consulting and technology, guiding fellow LBS students to pursue careers in these sectors. Shajia spent an exciting summer at a fintech unicorn and will be joining consulting in London following her studies.
