About me: Having graduated from Durham University with a degree in geography, Robbie joined the British Army, commencing officer training at the world-renowned leadership academy, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Upon commissioning, Robbie joined the Grenadier Guards as a platoon commander. Multiple deployments followed, notably to Kenya for training for contingency operations and force protection missions. Robbie was then selected to be an instructor, where he had the opportunity to train infantry soldiers enlisting in the British Army. Upon promotion to Captain, Robbie was selected to be a specialist (reconnaissance) platoon commander for operations in Afghanistan, which he did in 2018. Robbie’s last job in the British Army was as a military advisor to the director of United Kingdom special operations, a job which entailed briefing and advising senior officers and politicians on critical national security issues.
The LBS MBA is vital to help Robbie achieve his goal of moving into consulting. The academic foundations, collaborative nature and the global outlook and makeup of the students and faculty make it the premier school for a career switcher. Robbie has already learnt a huge amount from his talented peers and looks forward to building on the relationships he has already established.
Three topics I can be approached about: Transitioning to business school from a non-military background; military candidates; balancing MBA life with family life
