Marie grew up in Singapore and Vancouver, Canada. She studied global resource systems (resource economics) at the University of British Colombia. She worked and conducted research in Indonesia, Tanzania and Palestine with leading international development organisations MEDA, UNRWA and the MasterCard Foundation, where she focused on youth entrepreneurship and economic development. Before enrolling at LBS, Marie was part of the team that launched SVX, an impact investing startup spun out of the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing in Toronto. She developed and led investor strategy and services, and oversaw all marketing activity. Prior to this, she co-led investment readiness accelerator programmes for impact ventures and conducted due diligence on SVX issuers.
Marie decided to pursue an MBA at LBS to learn from incredibly talented and diverse classmates, while being situated in London’s rich environment for impact investing. She aims to leverage her MBA to continue to enable more transformational impact investments. At LBS, Marie is junior treasurer for the Women’s Touch Rugby Club, is an active member of the Social Impact Club, and is enjoying the plethora of initiatives put on by professional and social clubs on campus.
