Dean decided to attend London Business School to expand his international network, broaden his exposure, and enhance his finance and strategy capabilities. LBS was an obvious choice for him due to its global reach, unparalleled diversity and renowned reputation. The flexibility of the LBS programme also attracted Dean as it allows him to define his own journey and career path. During the course of his time at LBS, he has been hugely impressed with the pragmatic design of the programme, the calibre of his class, and the collegiality of the LBS ecosystem. Dean is also an LBS scholar, having been awarded the LBS Merit Scholarship.
Before joining London Business School, Dean spent two years as an investment professional in the direct private equity arm of British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI), a top-tier Canadian pension fund with US$160bn AUM. At BCI, Dean evaluated and managed leveraged buy-out investments globally on a majority or co-sponsor basis for companies with enterprise values ranging from US$500m to US$5bn. Prior to BCI, Dean spent 4 years at PwC Corporate Finance and KPMG in Vancouver, specialising as lead financial advisor for middle-market divestitures, M&A, LBOs and recapitalisations. Dean is a qualified Chartered Accountant and graduated as a Gold Medallist with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
In addition to being a LBS student ambassador, Dean forms part of the Executive Committees of the LBS Private Equity and Venture Capital Club and the Debate and Public Speaking Club. Dean is also a career representative and an Early Careers mentor at LBS. In his spare time, he enjoys being engaged in a range of outdoor activities such as running and hiking, as well as poker, basketball and the cinema.
