Cynthia holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, from Simon Fraser University, graduating on the Dean’s honours roll with distinction. Cynthia has been a Chartered Professional Accountant since 2018 and is pursuing CFA Level 3 concurrently with the Masters in Finance at LBS.
Prior to joining LBS, Cynthia worked in the corporate finance group at KPMG in San Francisco, specialising in valuation and fairness opinions primarily for tech-focused PE/VC funds, as well as large-cap tech companies. Prior to moving to San Francisco, Cynthia was a senior M&A associate at MNP Corporate Finance, a leading national middle market boutique investment bank in Canada. At MNP, Cynthia helped passionate founders and entrepreneurs on middle market divestitures, acquisitions, LBOs, capital raising and restructuring. Cynthia also worked in assurance with PwC as part of the energy, utility, mining and infrastructure group.
Cynthia’s motivation to join the Masters in Finance programme at LBS was two-fold: to acquire and reinforce the self-confidence, practical financial expertise and leadership essential to excel in finance as a female; and to make it the best overseas learning experience of a lifetime. LBS was her first choice due to its global reach, diversity and academic rigour. Cynthia is impressed by the extensive professional networking opportunities, such as the Women in Business Club, which offers a platform to connect with some of the world’s most accomplished and inspiring women and hear about their empowering stories.
In addition to being a student ambassador, Cynthia is an active member of the Turnaround and Restructuring Club, the Private Equity and Venture Capital Club and the Snow Club. Cynthia also co-led the 2020 New York Investment Trek. At the weekend, you will find Cynthia enjoying the great outdoors on a hike, run, bike or stand-up paddleboard. Her other passions include baking, technology and investing.
