Launch your MBA and your future career by developing the essential leadership skills every ambitious executive requires.
Leadership Launch provides a varied and stimulating learning environment through simulations, panel discussions, group workshops and coaching. With our School-wide Leadership Competencies Framework as a foundation, the programme supports a self-directed study approach. Identify individual development needs specific to your career goals, mapping them onto your framework alongside career centre input and curriculum choices. Clear outcomes are provided to reflect your success in each competency.
Offered throughout your MBA, Leadership Launch follows specific themes representing five key leadership skills:
Identify and prioritise your strengths and development needs, defining your professional goals and what success means for you post-MBA. Establish personal leadership development objectives and gain the interpersonal, cultural and teamwork skills necessary to lead diverse teams anywhere in the world. Experience a full-day business simulation on the Global Leadership Assessment for Managers (GLAM) and focus your study group into an effective, supportive learning team.
Develop essential parts of a global leader's toolkit, including listening, empathy and team building. Figure out how to achieve objectives without resorting to command, control or hierarchy. Your development starts during orientation week, working with your study group, and attending skills sessions such as Effective Networking and the Peer Leadership Programme.
Master communication in all its forms and become a truly global business leader. Learn to communicate in ways that inspire and motivate, galvanising others to action by removing ambiguity and articulating a powerful vision. Courses include Business Writing, Best Practice Presentations and Communication, Personal Impact and Mastering Interviews.
Knowing what to do and when is vital to good leadership. Learn to make decisions and solve problems with limited information and in tight timeframes. Technical courses such as Mastering Finance Technical Interviews and Modelling for Finance Careers will help build this fundamental skill. Options such as the Summer Consulting Team provide a platform to put these problem solving skills into action.
Cultivate a pragmatic, non-bureaucratic approach to delivering change – the final range of practical skills that leaders require to tackle change. Take a big idea or strategy and learn to translate it into a set of practical, easily understood actions. Gain cutting-edge tools in project management, meeting and time management, performance measures, governance, evaluation and prioritisation, as well as a sound understanding of organisational behaviour.
