CFA Institute Research Challenge
The CFA Institute Research Challenge seeks to promote best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts. The annual, global competition provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis leveraging the efforts of more than 5,000 students from over 1,000 universities.
Teams of students select a promising social enterprise that’s on the verge of raising substantial seed finance to fund growth. The teams position themselves as analysts within an Impact Investment fund and carry out detailed due diligence on the business – and then present their findings to a group of experienced impact investors. The winning team competes in the global final at Wharton.
NN IP Investment Game
The NN IP Investment Game simulates reality, allowing you to step into the shoes of a portfolio manager and manage a portfolio under the pressures of too much information and too little time, requiring you to react to a constant stream of economic developments and information with maximum alertness and agility. In doing so, you gain experience in building a balanced portfolio and keeping it up-to-date. The goal is to outperform the market using analysis, interpretation and reaction. The game is run on campus by senior NN IP investment professionals. Prizes are available.
Orbis Stock Picking Challenge
This challenge allows students to independently research, write and present an investment report on a company to Orbis analysts. The winner is awarded a prize of £2,500 with two runners up receiving prizes of £500.
Peeptrade Investment Competition
This is a portfolio management competition that offers students an opportunity to apply stock selection and portfolio management. The Challenge allows students to put their analytic, business and investment management skills to the test by managing a $1,000,000 virtual money portfolio against top universities across the globe. The top teams receive an all-expenses paid trip to the final event at The University of Chicago.
Venture Capital Investment Competition
Teams of MBA students compete as venture capitalists. Each team plays the role of a venture capital firm that must go through the entire VC investment process in the extremely condensed period of a single weekend. The teams review real business plans from entrepreneurs seeking funding and create term sheets to be judged by a panel of VC judges.
