Awards


The Institute supports London Business School students and rising scholars around the world by recognising academic and research excellence with a series of awards.


AQR Asset Management Institute Scholar Award


This annual award recognises multiple graduating students demonstrating academic excellence in asset management. Students will be judged on academic performance in areas of relevance to the Institute, good citizenship and potential future impact on the asset management industry.


Eligibility: London Business School graduating students from MBA, EMBA and MiF degree programmes.


Judging panel: AQR Asset Management Institute Academic Directors


Award: The top student receives a prize of £10,000.


Winners: In 2016, the winners were Andrea Turrini (MBA), Charles Boissé (Full-time MiF), Stefano Filippi (Part-time MiF) and Paolo Pio (EMBA).


AQR Asset Management Institute Fellowship Award


This annual award recognises a single PhD student who demonstrates intellectual rigour, academic excellence and innovation.


Eligibility: London Business School PhD students in their fourth, fifth or sixth year of study with research interests in the field of asset management, broadly defined.


Judging panel: AQR Asset Management Institute Academic Directors


Award: The top PhD student receives a prize of £10,000.


Winners: The 2016 prize was awarded to Anton Lines and Jean-Marie Meier was recognised as a finalist. In 2015, the winner was Ryan Lewis.


AQR Asset Management Institute Young Researcher Award


This annual award recognises talented new academics producing relevant, innovative and impactful research, who have made a significant contribution to the field of asset management.


Eligibility: Individual junior faculty members (with up to five years’ work experience at any recognised higher education institution) carrying out research in the field of asset management, broadly defined.


Judging panel: AQR Asset Management Institute Academic Directors, LBS faculty Suleyman Basak and Scott Richardson and external academics Markus Brunnermeier, Tobias Moskowitz, Lasse Pedersen and Pietro Veronesi.


Award: The winner(s) receive an equal share of £20,000.


Winners: In 2017, the winners were Matthew Brown (MBA), Faith Chin (Full-time MiF), Stefano Bertolini (Part-time MiF) and Timothy Morris (EMBA). Finalist Mengsong Chen (Part-time MiF) was also recognised. In 2016, the winners were Andrea Turrini (MBA), Charles Boissé (Full-time MiF), Stefano Filippi (Part-time MiF) and Paolo Pio (EMBA). Finalists Lucy Hancock and Teodor Simeonov (MBA) and Fabricio Chala and Ashish Sahay (Full-time MiF), were also recognised.
