Dr. Darren Bernard’s research focuses on the interplay of product market competition and financial reporting decisions. His work examines the effects of product market characteristics on inter-firm information acquisition, the role of financial statement disclosures in facilitating predatory behaviour, and the magnitude of competitive costs stemming from income statement disclosure. His research interests extend to several other topics, including the effects of dispersed stock ownership on dimensions of public company performance and the effects of transparency on the flow of funds in related asset markets.
