My greatest challenge when I applied to business school was: Concerns about the difficulty in transitioning from a humanities degree to a business degree
About me: I was born and raised in Chengdu, a thriving city in southwestern China. In my undergraduate time, I studied for double degrees at Sun Yat-sen University and the University of Manchester, receiving multiple national and university-wide scholarships. My interest in business was aroused by my minor in Management. Hoping to get more exposure, I interned in marketing, risk consulting and management consulting in China and the UK. This experience helped me to discover my passion in management consulting. I also realised that the analytical mind-set and the research skills I acquired in Linguistics and Sociology are applicable to consulting roles. Nevertheless, to better start a consulting career, I wish to hone these skills and gain concrete business knowledge, and that’s why I came to LBS. I am passionate about volunteer and charity work; I was a regular volunteer in my hometown library, and I volunteered in Nepal with a local NGO to help underprivileged students. I also enjoy photography, drama and running. I was a leading actress at Manchester Palaver Festival and completed two half-marathons in China.
