Tamer holds a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and B.A. in Economics and International Relations, Summa Cum Laude, degrees from Calvin College and a Juris Doctorate degree, with Honors, from Howard Law School. After graduating from law school, Tamer started his career in corporate law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York, U.S.A., where he did rotations in the Banking and Securities divisions. Afterwards, he moved with the same law firm to London, U.K., where he focused on leveraged and acquisition finance transactions. Thereafter, he moved to Allen & Overy (A&O), where he is currently employed as a Senior Associate in the High Yield Group.
While at A&O, Tamer was sent on secondment to the Leverage Finance Execution Team of Goldman Sachs International (within the Investment Banking Division) where he was primarily responsible for working with the investment bankers on LBOs, refinancing and/or dividend recapitalizations in the forms of high yield bonds, PIK/Toggle bonds, term loan Bs and loans. His primary focus continues to be sub-investment grade bonds in the contexts of leverage and acquisition finance. Tamer decided to join the Masters in Finance program at London Business School because of the diversity of his classmates and to further expand his current expertise in the area of finance (especially gaining further insight on the business side). Outside of work, Tamer enjoys traveling, playing Tennis and Football and writing political analytical pieces on the Middle East. He is also a member of the Africa, Middle East and Finance clubs.
