Nolan was born and raised in Pasadena, California. After graduating with a bachelors degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Southern California, Nolan earned his masters in biomedical engineering while working for the global medical device company Medtronic as a research and development engineer. At Medtronic, he helped develop the first FDA-approved “artificial pancreas”. Nolan continued to pursue his passion in healthcare by becoming a product manager for Bioness, leading teams in the creation of next-generation rehabilitation technologies.
He co-founded and was CEO of VasoInnovations – a start-up innovating minimally invasive heart surgery. Here, he put his prior experience and love of healthcare into practice by leading a team of doctors, engineers, and lawyers in reinventing cardiovascular surgical tools and education.
Nolan decided to take his MBA at London Business School to seize the opportunity to live in London and interact with classmates from various professional and cultural backgrounds. He also wanted to strengthen his entrepreneurial skillset and global outlook.
During the summer he co-founded Bolt Power with his London Business School classmates. They successfully launched a small scale pilot through the LBS community and are looking to launch throughout London shortly.
Nolan is attending the international exchange programme at Columbia Business School. He is an executive leader and adviser of the Entrepreneurship and the Healthcare Clubs, respectively. He is a Healthcare and Entrepreneurship Peer Leader. In his spare time, he likes to explore London’s local markets with classmates.
