After obtaining a BSc in Chemical Engineering in Nigeria, an MSc in Process Technology from the University of Warwick, and some work experience within the oil and gas industry as a project engineer, Dolapo decided to explore fashion entrepreneurship by starting a business that combined technology and fashion. Her Damaris Solaris bag, capable of charging mobile devices on the go, was sold in Nigeria. She launched OYSBY, a premium footwear brand, in 2014; since OYSBY’s inception, she has been named Designer to Watch by the Vamp, and has won praise from editors of style magazines including Vogue, InStyle and Oprah Magazine. Her designs have been worn by celebrities such as Carrie Underwood and Fifth Harmony. More recently, she was named a UK Footwear Designer of the Year finalist by Drapers, the leading UK business-to-business magazine and website.
Dolapo decided an MBA at LBS was important in order to expand her network within the business community and help her take her entrepreneurial ambitions to the next level. She is currently a Mo Ibrahim Scholar at LBS and Vice President of Special Projects for the LBS African Club. She is combining her full-time studies with being a mother of two, and is hoping to further explore opportunities within fashion and retail post-MBA.
