Transforming and growing
I joined the Mergers and Acquisitions programme because I wanted to develop a more comprehensive, integrated perspective on the acquisition process. I wanted to sharpen my strategic skills and understanding of the implications of mergers and acquisitions on my company’s performance. London Business School’s Mergers and Acquisitions programme offered a very balanced approach to valuation and focused on the strategic elements that I wanted to strengthen.
Real-life business cases
The faculty provided a remarkable selection of real life case studies, giving us the added benefit of learning from hindsight. They instigated thought provoking debates and discussions on relevant topics such as how to quantify the opportunity cost of not following through with a deal, the fundamentals of value creation and easy traps of value destruction. The guest speakers also offered great knowledge of deal structures and shared extraordinary stories of successful and failed deals.
For me, one of the principal values of the programme has been the ability to network with professionals not only from my industry but other career fields too. Gaining the understanding of the various approaches to the mergers and acquisitions process deployed by other large multinationals as well as family and private companies was a remarkable experience.
An invigorating experience
Attending the Mergers and Acquisitions programme was an intense experience, providing me with a good mass of fundamental theory, practical insights and a diverse network. More importantly it stimulated me to shape my views and way of thinking whilst also focusing on the long term outlook. My professional goal is to lead financial stewardship and strategy deployment for ArcelorMittal and I now have a clear structure and framework to do this successfully.
