Contacts and services for alumni

As an alumnus of London Business School, you are welcome to visit the Library whenever you are in London.

Alumni of the School can borrow books from the main collection, and use a range of electronic resources (some globally via Portal). There are seven dedicated library database / Internet PCs in the Library for use by our Alumni, and three laptops are also available.

Access to the Library

• As an alumnus of the school you can use the library whenever you like.
• All you need to do is get a new ID card from the Security Desk at Plowden reception, and then bring this card to the library to register.
• Alumni wishing to bring a partner/guest to the library will be required to pay a £30 day fee for each visitor.  Partners/guests do not have access to any electronic resources other than the library catalogue.

Borrowing books

• Alumni of London Business School can borrow up to five books at a time.
• Books are issued for two weeks at a time and can be renewed, subject to our standard rules
• Alumni cannot borrow from the library's short loan collection.
  

Electronic Resources

• We offer a wide range of electronic resources to our Alumni.  See the current list of available resources (download PDF 54KB).  
• Some key alumni resources can be accessed from anywhere in the world via Portal. These include:
       - Factiva, for current and archived news stories and articles, company profiles and share price data
       - Business Source Alumni Edition for academic and magazine articles, company and industry profiles
       - Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) for Country Reports, Profiles and Newsletters providing regular updates and archived reports on economic, political and business issues in some 200 countries
       - Emerald Management Xtra offers the full text of 150 Emerald Group Publishing management journals covering accounting, management, training, women in business, marketing, and public sector management
       - BestofBiz Gold, a unique web-based resource developed with the continuing research needs of our alumni in mind
  
  
• We are able to offer additional electronic resources to alumni visiting the library.
  
• N.B. Alumni may use library electronic resources for personal research purposes only, and must comply at all times with the database copyright holders' terms and conditions.  Use for any other purposes, such as commercial activity, consultancy or resale is strictly prohibited.

Inter Library Loans

• Alumni may use the London Business School library to request books and articles from the British Library
• There is a charge for this service (currently £12.00 per item)
• You can place a request for an item using our library catalogue.

Research Enquiries

• The Information Specialists in our Business Information Service are able to assist alumni in their research
• Quick enquiries can be carried out free of charge, and if more extensive research is necessary then a charge can be discussed
