London Business School welcomes 2012

The 2012 Olympics promise to make London an even more exciting place to live and study in - and London Business School is playing a key role in helping colleges and universities get involved in the event…

Lobbying for the games
Our Student Association's 2012 Club was extremely active in the build-up to the bid, lobbying both on and off-campus.

Now the award has been made, we're working with Podium, the Further and Higher education Unit for the 2012 games, to help universities and colleges support the staging of the games, as well as maximising the benefits of holding the Olympics in the UK.

"The 2012 Olympics are hugely exciting for London, not least for the city's colleges and universities," says Philip Willatt, Director, Human Resources and our representative on Podium.

"We helped lobby for London to be awarded the games, and now, along with other representatives of the higher education sector, we're playing a key role in ensuring that they leave a lasting legacy for the city."

Olympic projects
Podium projects so far include:
• developing a Business Opportunities Plan showing how Higher Education Institutions can engage with the games
• working with the London Development Agency on possible projects in the capital
• getting involved in the Cultural Olympiad, taking place in September 2008, which promises a great opportunity to showcase student talent
