PricewaterhouseCoopers Sloan Fellowship Prize
The Sloan Fellowship international assignment further enhances the global business capabilities of Sloan Fellows . In partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, the Sloan Fellowship has introduced the PricewaterhouseCoopers Sloan Fellowship prize.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers Sloan Fellowship prize provides students with the opportunity to broaden their global perspectives on the challenges and key developments facing emerging markets such as China.
The 2007 Sloan Fellow class travelled to the exhilarating cities of Shanghai and Hangzhou and in small groups produced outstanding essays based on issues affecting the Chinese economy and on their interaction with both Chinese and non-Chinese organisations operating in the area.
Two student teams were short listed and asked to present their essays to a group of peers, directors, senior partners and board level representatives of PricewaterhouseCoopers at an awards event sponsored by PwC at the Institute of Directors.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers Sloan Fellowship prize was awarded to one student team of Sloan Fellows for their essay examining the challenges associated with intellectual property rights in China. PwC, described the winning entry as being of the highest standard, providing a fresh insight to organisations either already operating in or considering entering emerging/high growth markets.
You can read the short listed essay, which has been published and is now available on the PwC website.
Ian Coleman, partner and head of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP emerging market team, is very pleased with the alliance with the Sloan Fellows and London Business School and praised the extremely high quality, professionalism and sharp insight of the winning essay. He said: "The winners of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Sloan Fellowship Prize exhibited a sound academic understanding of the key issues underlying their area of study, whilst at the same time offering a fresh perspective and opinion on the subject matter. They have demonstrated a wide range of technical knowledge and skills, but their conclusions are essentially practical rather than theoretical."
Andrew Scott, Professor of Economics was elated by the partnership and highlighted the wealth of opportunities the PwC Sloan Fellowship prize offers to all Sloan Fellows. He said: "The intense travel and study experience combined with a group project aimed at the PwC Sloan Fellowship prize offers both a stimulating and intellectual experience but also an opportunity for students to have their views read and seen by a wider audience."
