Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires Global Forums 2007

Family, Friends and Fools are the three Fs you must always first look at when finding investments for a start up.  Dr Mullins, Associate Professor of Management Practice in Entrepreneurship, visited Latin America for the Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires Global Forums, where he led highly interactive sessions with expert panellists aimed at reducing the numbers of businesses failing at the first hurdle – the business plan.  Following a lively discussion, alumni; Regional Advisors and high profile guests left the event inspired to re-think their business plans, with hopes of joining the ranks of those successful entrepreneurs that attended.  The events were held in Rio at IBMEC on 29 October and followed on to Buenos Aires on 1 November at UCEMA. Workshops began with Dr. Mullins asking the audience to review a case study and went on to ignite discursive sessions which allowed the opportunity for a high level of participation, feedback and ideas.

Latin America  Forum 2007

London Business School's second Latin America Business Forum took place on campus on 1 June 2007. The event was put together through the efforts of the Latin America Regional Advisory Board and the student-led Latin America Club. Speakers included: Andrés Pastrana Arango, former President of Colombia; Dr Carlos Salinas de Gortari, (former President of Mexico); Greg Brown, Editor-In-Chief, Latin Trade; Federico Sada Gonzalez, CEO, VITRO; Horacio Forjaz, Executive Vice President, EMBRAER; Ignacio Ortiz, President, CEMEX UK; Luis Schriak, CFO, Votorantim and Javier Santiso, Chief Economist at the OECD.  Media Partners for the day were Latin Trade Magazine and Latin America Newsletters.  Everyone agreed the speakers were fantastic and over 180 attendees were there to hear the interactive interview with President Pastrana and various interactive panel discussions. Through the efforts of everyone involved, the Latin America Business Forum is fast becoming recognised as the major event for Latin America in Europe.
