Financing your course
Undertaking a course at London Business School is a substantial investment in time and money that needs to be carefully evaluated. One of the key decisions you will need to make is how you will finance your studies and estimate the costs involved in undertaking the course.
Advance planning of your finances is vital. It is essential that you start thinking about how to fund your studies as early as possible. Most of the funding sources have strict deadlines, often several months before your course formally starts. Before you commence your studies, you must ensure that you have secured the necessary funds for the duration of the Programme.
Students are strongly encouraged to provide as much personal funding as possible through any investments, savings or sponsorship, before approaching any external funding organisations. Much of the external support available will depend on the course you wish to apply for, your mode of study and your nationality or place of residence.
Part time students should be aware that most organisations will only consider providing fee support. You will be expected to cover the living costs yourself, normally through employment.
All full time students are recommended to have enough funds to cover at least eight weeks of living expenses when arriving to start the course. This would then cover any unexpected delays in the disbursement of your support or allow for funds to clear through the banks. Your expenses will be higher at the start of the course due to the initial costs of deposits for accommodation, purchasing travel cards and any equipment/materials required by the course.
All students would also be recommended to check for any course specific internal scholarships offered by London Business School, listed on the left hand side navigation.
Contained within the headings in the right hand navigation are listings of funds you may wish to apply for. However, please be aware these lists are not exhaustive and you are recommended to contact your local banks regarding personal loans and local governments to check if any national funding schemes exist that you can apply for.
London Business School is closely involved in the administration of two of the loan schemes available to students: HSBC-London Business School Loan Scheme (download PDF 50KB) and the US Loan Scheme (download PDF 652 KB).
The funding sources listed in the following pages have been split up into broad categories for ease of reading and then separated into continent bands to limit the information you would need to read through.
You may also wish to check the following websites for lists of funds that may be available to you as an individual:
