Full-time/Part-time?

Our Masters in Finance programme is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. It is usually dependent on an individual's situation or personal preference as to how they choose to complete the programme. Regardless, all participants are required to fulfil the ten units which make up the degree.

The full-time Masters in Finance commences in September. It is designed for individuals who are able to take a break in their career and attend daytime classes, thereby completing the programme in ten months.

The part-time programme also starts in September and is designed for individuals who wish to complete their degree while continuing to be fully employed.  As part-time participants typically attend on two evenings per week, they need to live within commuting distance of central London.

Work on the team project starts early in term two, however much of it is carried out over the Easter break. The project must be completed by late May.

A typical day for a full-time MiF
A typical week in the full-time programme will consist of approximately 12 contact teaching hours. In addition, you will need to spend at least 30 hours a week studying on your own or as a part of study groups. Most participants actually choose to put in even more time than this.

The part-time programme

Most part-time participants are fully sponsored by their companies, and the remainder typically receive substantial financial support from their employers. Designed for those who continue to work while studying, the programme is completed in 22 months of mainly evening study.

The programme requires participants to take all three core courses in their first academic year, by attending on two evenings per week (Mondays and Thursdays). In the second academic year, participants complete the remaining degree requirements by taking six to eight electives. Each elective normally requires attendance for one three hour class per week for ten weeks and they are shared by all our degree programme participants. Most part-time participants will choose electives scheduled in the evenings, but daytime electives are also available to them. There are also some electives which are run in a block-week format and require attendance from 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday for one week, as well as some that run on Saturdays.

Most of the work on the team project is completed over the summer at the end of the first academic year and the final project submission date is mid-December.
