Benefits and career impact

Based at the heart of the world's financial hub, London Business School has an outstanding reputation in finance and strong links with financial institutions globally. Our Masters in Finance graduates are represented in every functional area of finance and in a wide variety of firms, including financial services, consulting, industry and the public sector.

The impact that the Masters in Finance programme will have on your career depends on your aspirations and past experiences. One thing is certain: whatever the outcome of today's economic climate, the world will still revolve around finance.

Career impact

As experienced finance professionals, the majority of Masters in Finance graduates will choose to enter very specific "experienced hire" roles upon graduation. The past couple of years have seen a significant increase in the number of students moving into financial roles outside of the financial services sector.

Employment in 2012

The uncertainty in the finance labour market continues to have a significant impact on recruitment in the Financial Services sector. It is encouraging that despite these challenging market conditions, 81% of the Class of 2012 received offers of employment within 4 months of graduation.

With 25% and 18% of our students moving into investment banking and investment management respectively, they continue to be the most popular sectors of choice for Masters in Finance students. However, for the second year in a row we have seen an increase in major corporate organisations recruiting our Masters in Finance students (18% of graduates compared to 14% in 2011) as they recognise the need for finance specialists with global business knowledge.

Those still seeking employment continue to receive the full support of the Career Services team.

Looking beyond the peaks and troughs of the immediate economic cycle, a masters degree from a top tier business school is a long-term investment. An investment that will pay dividends across the next five, ten or twenty years. Graduates from the Masters in Finance are equipped with the specialist finance skills, experience, and the backing of the London Business School brand and global network to succeed in their long-term careers.
