Funding & support

Scholarships

Students offered a place on the programme will receive a scholarship covering:

• tuition fees
• a stipend

The scholarship is guaranteed for four years subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Students who continue in the fifth year can apply for a remission of the continuation fee.  However there will be a higher fee charged to those who stay for a 6/7^th year.  The deadline for thesis submission is 7 years.

Students are expected to apply for alternative support for which they are eligible (e.g. ESRC, JNICT, etc).

Funding Sources

ESRC research studentships

• The PhD Programme is recognised (mode A) by the ESRC for the award of research studentships and currently has around twenty students funded by this body
• The Programme has also been successful in obtaining ESRC CASE recognition to fund collaborative research.

External funding

• Students are expected to seek scholarships available from educational foundations or the relevant government agencies in their own country
• Overseas applicants who wish to apply for scholarships from UK government funds for overseas students should make enquiries at the British Council or British Embassy offices in their own country.

Please note: These funds are not normally available once students arrive in the UK.

Accommodation

Finding affordable accommodation In London is one of the greatest concerns of students starting at London Business School.  

However, there are plenty of opportunities and lots of support from the Programme Office while you look. 

There is currently no residential accommodation at the School.

University of London

• Students can apply for accommodation in the University of London Halls of Residence
• A number of these have accommodation for couples and families
• The University of London Accommodation Office also has information on privately rented accommodation
• A booklet entitled Finding Somewhere to Live in London, is a useful starting point, and is available from the Accommodation Office
• Visit their excellent website to view accommodation opportunities.
