Foundations and trusts

We are keen to build closer relationships with foundations and trusts that share our commitment to business education, research and outreach

Extending our teaching and research and upgrading campus facilities are ongoing priorities. Foundations and trusts are an important category of donors who enable us to achieve these goals.

The support of foundations and trusts, in recognition of our charitable status, also enhances our ability to:

  • benefit the communities of London, the UK and other areas of the world through outreach programmes.
  • provide scholarships for deserving students to enable them to participate in the School's world-class programmes.
  • continue our valuable contribution to academic research on important business issues and national economies.
  • maintain and expand our campus buildings and infrastructure.
  • offset our loss-making financial position before fundraising.

We are most grateful to the following 50 foundations and trusts for their critical support over the last ten years:

Testimonials from Donors

"We are very pleased to be entering into partnership with London Business School to support this new scholarship scheme which will serve as a fitting memorial to our founder Trustee, Mr Yoshitoki Chino. The Foundation is committed to fostering links between the UK and Japan and is gratified that this initiative will increase the flow of students and ultimately business leaders between the two countries."
Professor Marie Conte-Helm, Director General, The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation

"We are delighted to support London Business School's efforts to enable the brightest MBA candidates to access the best business education, regardless of their means.  By bestowing this scholarship on a student with an engineering background, it will celebrate the life of Desmond Molins, an ancestor who was a great engineer and businessman".
Sergio (MBA93) and Cornelia Ravich Calafell, family members, Desmond Molins Charitable Trust

"The focus of the Foundation is on the issues of governance and leadership in Africa.  We believe that these issues are the most important challenges facing Africa today and that if we succeed in these areas all other things will follow.  As well as investing in the development of senior leaders we are also developing a programme for aspiring leaders and in that context my fellow trustees and I are delighted that London Business School is the first beneficiary of the Foundation.  What better place to start than helping the very best talent from sub-Saharan Africa to study for an MBA at one of the world's top business schools."
Dr Mo Ibrahim, Founder Trustee, Mo Ibrahim Foundation

Testimonials from Beneficiaries

"Before attending the Sloan Fellowship programme, my goal was to set up a joint venture dealing with raw material in my country, mainly cashew nuts.  However, with my final research project, I discovered that biofuel was "the big subject" because of global warming and the energy crisis.  So the final research project helped me to shift from cashew nuts to Jatropha which is a raw material in my country.  I can say that, with the Sloan programme I have updated my idea, making it more global.  However, the goal remains the same: that is to fight poverty by creating jobs through an entrepreneurial venture.  Setting up a business in Africa was my dream and I can confirm it is about the takeaways I have from the Sloan programme.  Once again I express my sincere gratitude and thanks to the Trustees of The Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust"
