Organisational Behaviour
Business is about people. From the smallest enterprise to the largest corporation, organisations are created and designed by people to fulfil human objectives. The discipline of organisational behaviour (OB) seeks to understand how we can best do this. The OB group at London Business School aims to provide the highest impact scholarship and teaching leading to a better understanding of human behaviour in organisations.
Our faculty and PhD students have research interests that range across the field from micro to macro concerns. The micro themes are the psychological principles that govern the exercise of leadership, motivation, decision-making, negotiation, and creativity. The macro themes are the sociological, cultural and institutional factors shaping organisational structures and systems, inter-organisational relationships and networks. Bridging these levels of analysis are the critical issues often referred to as "meso" factors focusing on teamwork, group dynamics, organisational culture and personal identity.
