New management programme graduates prove a hit with employers
A new report by London Business School has revealed that 95% of students on its inaugural Masters in Management (MiM) graduate-level programme found employment within three months of graduating.
The MiM Employment Report 2010 centred specifically on the first graduates at the School to study the programme, which was launched in 2009.
Of those that found employment within three months of graduating, more than eight in 10 (85%) started work with a new employer. Around 5% of those who found employment had opted to start their own company immediately after finishing their MiM programme at the School.
Fiona Sandford, the Director of Career Services at London Business School, said: "With a brand new programme, there is always a risk that it will take time to establish a reputation in the market and so I am delighted that 95% of our inaugural Masters in Management graduates had secured employment within three months of graduation."
Almost three quarters (72%) of the MiM2010 graduates found work through the School Community and the initiatives undertaken at the School, such as Career Week, Business Immersion Week and Professional Club activity.
The average salary (£35,500) of MiM graduates from London Business School exceeds the average graduate salary by approximately £10,000 (according to figures released by the Association of Graduate Recruiters).
Consulting was the most popular field to enter upon completion of the programme, with 40% choosing this path. It was closely followed by financial services (38%), with the majority deciding to go into investment banking.
Just under a quarter (22%) of those who had found employment decided to go into industry.
She added: "We really believe that the Masters in Management students at London Business School represent the best of the graduate market and are really pleased to see recruiters have chosen our graduates from the inaugural class. We are in a unique position of being able to offer talent across all experience levels. We will build on this year's success and further increase our international networks with employers across all sectors in the future."
