MBA student in running for Women of the Future

Kathryn Farmer

A top student from London Business School was nominated for the Women of the Future Awards.

Kathryn Farmer, a second-year MBA student at the School, was shortlisted for the awards, which seek to unearth and recognise the stars of tomorrow across diverse industries, celebrating high-achieving women under 35 who are inspirational in their professions.

Supporting her nomination, the School cited Kathryn’s broad range of experience and high achievement.

Around 500 people attended the ceremony in London Marriott Grosvenor Square, including awards patron Cherie Blair and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.

The event was billed as a celebration of the female leaders of the future, and organisers hailed the variety of talent among the awards shortlist as "phenomenal".

Kathryn enrolled at the School on the back of a first-class degree from the University of Cambridge and is described as an active contributor across all facets of the School community.

She was part of a talented committee appointed to lead a 250-strong team through to MBA Tournament (MBAT) 2010, an Olympics for European business schools.

Kathryn received one of the Celia Atkin Avent Scholarship awards to join the MBA programme, which are only given to the most gifted women to join the School.

Commenting on her nomination, Kathryn said: “Being part of the 2010 Women of the Future Awards was a truly humbling experience. I was incredibly touched to be nominated for the MBA Star award and then to receive such support for my application, both from those at London Business School and from my past employers. The support of so many was a reward in itself!

“I was very excited and honoured to represent London Business Sschool at the gala awards dinner.  It was amazing to reach the final six shortlisted candidates in my category and be surrounded by so many talented and inspiring women. It was a fantastic experience and one I will never forget!”
