London Business School tops journal impact survey
A new survey into the impact of economic and business papers produced by academic institutions across the UK has placed London Business School top of the list.
According to the Essential Science Indicators database of Thomson Reuters, the School has an impact rating of 12.6.
The data looked at the number of papers published by business schools and universities between January 2000 to June this year.
The School was cited 7,825 times from 621 journals indexed by the researchers over the 10-year period.
According to the data, the world average in impact for economics and business for the period was 5.82, a figure that the School more than doubled.
University College London was second in the UK top ten list, with an impact rating of 8.51, having had 4,797 citations from 564 papers and journals.
The University of Oxford came third, with 8,895 citations from 1,092 papers, giving it a rating of 8.15.
Other institutions to make the top 10 included the University of York, which was fourth, the London School of Economics in fifth, and Cambridge University in sixth.
Nottingham, Warwick, Cardiff and Manchester universities made up the top 10.
