Vodafone expands relationship with London Business School
London Business School is delighted to confirm that Vodafone Group Plc and the Vodafone Foundation have expanded their involvement with the School, bringing a range of benefits to both sides.
The Vodafone Foundation, which is at the centre of a network of global and local social investment programmes undertaken by the company, is doubling the number of scholarships awarded through the Vodafone Foundation scholarships at London Business School from two to four, with applicants selected on merit. The Vodafone Foundation has been supporting scholarships at the School since 2003, following a £1.5million endowed gift. Financial support for students is vital to ensure that the School continues to attract the very best students from all over the world.
This agreement forms part of a deepening relationship between Vodafone and London Business School, with the Vodafone Group recently joining the School’s corporate partnership programme. Corporate partners enjoy a privileged position within the School’s global community, with access to its top international talent, world-class knowledge and networking opportunities. The company is stepping up its recruitment of London Business School students and is working with several of the School’s faculty members to collaborate on research.
This year, the School community will be fortunate to hear first-hand from two of Vodafone’s business leaders. On 5 May, Chris Lane, Director of Strategy at Vodafone, addressed the London Business School Technology Club. On 5 July, Vittorio Colao, Chief Executive of Vodafone, will be speaking at the School’s Global Leadership Summit, discussing the strategies that Vodafone has adopted in order to succeed in emerging markets. This year’s Summit brings together business leaders and the School’s leading faculty to explore the opportunities emerging from the developing world.
Karen Napier, Associate Dean for Advancement at London Business School, says, “The School is very grateful to Vodafone and the Vodafone Foundation for their continuing and deepening support. This is a great example of the many ways in which an organisation can benefit from a relationship with London Business School.”
Announcing the enhanced programme of activity Ronald Schellekens, HR Director Vodafone Group said, "Vodafone is proud of its partnership with London Business School since endowing the scholarship programme, and in addition to this ongoing support, is looking forward to a deeper and more direct connection with the school through a number of strategic programmes".
