The Time is Now: Seizing Opportunities in a Recovering Economy
12th London Business School Entrepreneurship Conference 7 May 2010
As the world emerges from another recession, London Business School’s Entrepreneurship Club believes there is no better time for individuals to be in control of their own business destiny.
At the club’s twelfth annual conference on 7 May, successful entrepreneurs, including BBC Dragon’s Den panellist, James Caan, will be sharing the answers to those all important questions facing budding businesspeople, such as how to grow a business (may it be in revenue, people, etc.), or the necessity to constantly identify new solutions to market needs.
Joining James Caan as a speaker will be Lord Davies, Minister for Trade, Investment and Small Business.
The conference traditionally attracts successful household name entrepreneurs, the world’s leading venture capitalists and angel investors, as well as high level corporate representatives, to share their views on the most relevant topics in entrepreneurship today through a series of panels and addresses. This year’s event is no exception.
Four panels, entitled Corporate Entrepreneurship, Scaling Up, Reinventing the Wheel, and Getting to Plan B, will feature an expert line-up:
• Jim Buckle, CFO, LoveFilm
• William Kendall, ex-CEO, Green & Blacks
• Paul Excel, Chief Customer Innovation Officer, BT
• Dan Turner, Co-Founder & Director, ByBox
• Emma Loisel, Angel Investor
• Rafael Offer, Former Lead of Venture Business, Diageo
• Faisal Galaria, Global Head of Business Development, Spotify
• Lukasz Gadowski, Partner, Team Europe Ventures
• Toby Rowland, CEO, MangaHigh.com
A panel of experienced venture capitalists, business angels, and investors will also be judging the finalists of The Business Plan Competition, which will bring together the five best teams from around the UK to present their ideas.
A first for the conference, the Entrepreneurship Club will award two London Business School alumni with the Annual Alumni Entrepreneurs Award, to recognise their hard work and success.
